What's Available?
Purchasing a home may be the greatest investment you will ever make! The home buying process involves many considerations and challenges that we can assist you with.

Currently in Jefferson County qualified homeowners can receive up to $11,000 in forgivable grants to help them purchase a home

Jefferson County Economic Development Consortium offers a two part seminar on a monthly basis.  These seminars offer potential owners with education on the purchasing process and the many requirements associated with home ownership.   The seminars allow qualified individuals to fulfill a requirement for the grants that are available for down payment and closing costs assistance.

The requirements for the grants is as follows:

Eligibility

  • You must obtain a first mortgage from a participating lender.
  • The home must be located in Jefferson County.
  • Total household income cannot exceed 80% of the county median income, adjusted for household size. There are no asset limits.
  • Pre-purchase seminar and counseling, is required.
  • Purchase a single-family home or condominium and owner occupant.
  • The maximum purchase price is $200,160.0 for a 1-family structure.
  • The property must meet certain housing quality standards.
  • You cannot receive cash back from the closing.
